Journee Banks, outgoing Mississippi and Choctaw County SkillsUSA President passes the torch to Miley Dossett

Journee Banks, a senior at Choctaw County High School, led the Mississippi SkillsUSA student organization as the state president for the 2023-2024 school. As a State Officer, Journee has represented Choctaw County and Mississippi at the 2022 and 2023 Washington Leadership Training Institute in Washington, D.C. In 2022, she earned the Statesman Award presented to members who demonstrate SkillsUSA knowledge and civic awareness, along with an understanding of the SkillsUSA Framework and how to articulate their personal experience in career and technical education. She has also lobbied for career and technical education at the Capitol. As president, Journee led the fall leadership conference, organized a state-wide community service project for the Wingard Home, a charity serving the homeless in the Jackson area, and competed at the district (1st place) and state level (3rd place) with the Choctaw County SkillsUSA Opening and Closing Team. Journee has been an integral part of SkillsUSA. Her advisors, Mrs. Fondren and Mr. Black, wish her the best as she moves onto her next adventure at Ole Miss! Miley Dossett, a sophomore at Choctaw County High School, is continuing the legacy of student leadership. She will represent Choctaw County as the MS SkillsUSA Treasurer for the 2024-2025 school year. Miley completed Culinary Arts 1 and served as the Choctaw County Treasurer during the 2023-2024 school year. In addition to her involvement in SkillsUSA, Miley is a member of the choir, powerlifting team, and archery team. Her advisors, Mr. Black and Mrs. Fondren, are proud of her decision to be a State Officer and look forward to next year as Miley represents Choctaw County as an outstanding student leader.
