The Mississippi Construction Education Foundation is recognizing four career and technical education standouts as its students of the month for October. Winners are chosen based on grades, attendance, discipline in class, outstanding achievements, leadership abilities, and post-graduation plans. All will compete for student of the year honors at the foundation’s annual awards program next May.

Sabrina Shields, Carpentry student at CCCTC, is named as one of the MCEF students of the month for October. Sabrina is an officer at the local and state levels for SkillsUSA, she has earned first place in the organization’s state opening and closing competition. She is equally successful in the CTE and academic classrooms, posting the highest averages in construction, English, algebra, geometry, history, world geography, Mississippi studies, general music, biology and health. After graduation, Sabrina plans to study interior design at Mississippi State University. She feels that her knowledge and skills from taking the construction and carpentry classes at CCCTC will help her with her future career goals.
